Renew Our Building
Our building has not undergone significant renovation since the early 1960s. While those upgrades served us well throughout the 60s, 70s, and 80s, so much has changed since the 80s. Wouldn’t you agree? Cabbage Patch Dolls…gone. Sony Walkman…gone. Parachute pants…gone. Wait what? Then over the next 30 years or so, we tweaked and maximized the facility to meet the changing needs of our community. But we’ve finally reached a point where no amount of tweaking will allow us to serve the community effectively as we begin our next 100 years of ministry.
In response, we’re focused on three areas of improvement that we believe are critical investments in a building that still has so much to give.
-
Accessibility
Make the building more navigable for those who experience movement challenges.
Projects Include:
The brand new, fully-accessible restroom on the first floor (completed)
New front and gym doors with accessible openers
Replacement of the steps near Adams St. and Sixth Ave. with paved ramps making the gym and fellowship hall accessible from the outside
Installation of a lift to bring accessibility from the first floor to the fellowship hall
We'll share all the details in our Illuminating Our Next 100 Years worship series beginning September 29th!
-
Flexibility
Make small design adjustments to the building so it better serves current & future ministry needs and supports a wider variety of community partner usage.
Projects Include:
Upgraded downstairs restrooms (completed)
Upgrading the kitchen
Adding air conditioning
Replacing the doors between the fellowship hall and the gym with soundproof accordion doors

-
Sustainability
Make physical and operational changes that increase energy efficiency as well as revenue sources.
Projects Include:
Solar panels
